NORTH SHORE RHYTHMICS

COMPETITIVE PROGRAM

Gymnasts who wish to participate in competition may do so by joining the North Shore Rhythmics Team. Team participation is optional. Membership with the team carries additional responsibilities, costs and commitment but, of course, lots of rewards including, but not limited to, fun, friendship, goal setting and achievement.

LEVELS

Gymnasts are placed in competitive levels according to age, skill, interest, and commitment. Progression to the next competitive level is at the discretion of their coaches. NSR coaches are committed to determining the best level for each gymnast at each stage of her development in the sport. A gymnast will not advance just to move her along or because others in her level have advanced. The ultimate goal of NSR coaches is for each gymnast to reach her full potential in rhythmic and to love and enjoy the sport for a lifetime.

The USA Gymnastics Program committee establishes the apparatus rotation schedule for levels 3-8 and for the JO Group program ( CLICK HERE FOR ADDITIONAL INFO - SOURCE USAG ). The apparatus rotation for Levels 9, 10 and Group are established by FIG ( CLICK HERE FOR ADDITIONAL INFO - SOURCE FIG )

Level 3

  1. BulletAthletes complete in floor (RFX) and 2 optional apparatus routines. It’s all about skill development, not score, in this, the first “evaluation” level of the sport

  2. BulletUp to 4 gymnasts (from the same club) may compete on the carpet at the same time.

  3. BulletLevel 3 competes only at local and invitational meets. They “perform”, but not compete at state meets.

COMPETITIONS

The coaches determine the schedule at the beginning of each season. Schedule changes occur throughout the season, depending on the needs of the athletes. Participation is optional and involves additional time commitment and cost.

Local & Invitational

These meets are without qualification and are not required to be sanctioned by USAG. Chicagoland Invitational in Downers Grove, IL is an example of an invitational NSR is likely to attend with all levels.

National Invitational

These meets are without qualification but are sanctioned by USAG. LA Lights, Challenge Invitational, Boston Cup and Capitol Challenge are examples that NSR higher level athletes (L7-Elite) have attended. These meets do not qualify athletes for any USA Championship meets.

International Invitational

It is a goal of the NSR coaches to provide the richest experience for athletes. Whenever possible, coaches will seek opportunities for athletes to complete internationally. Approval for any gymnast to participate in an international competition is exclusively granted by USA Gymnastics.  No athlete may participate in an international competition without prior, written approval from the USA Gymnastics Rhythmic Program Director. An athlete competing in an international meet is subject to all policies and restrictions established by USAG. Athletes represent only North Shore Rhythmics, not the United States.
