 Who said Halloween was just about candy?! North Shore Rhythmics gymnasts (and coaches!) got into the spirit by wearing costumes to practice October 31.

Kudos to North Shore Rhythmics coach Natasha Klimouk, who this month became a brevet-level international judge! The International Gymnastics Federation now allows each country to choose only 10 people to take this exam, which Natasha and the other nine U.S. candidates all passed. (Go, USA!) The two-part test includes 100 questions about the code of points and a practical exam in which candidates judge 14 routines and must submit a score within one minute. (In competitions, judges get 2 1/2 minutes per routine.) Natasha may now serve as a judge in any international competition. North Shore Rhythmics trains more national team members than any other club in the country.
 A half dozen North Shore Rhythmics gymnasts trained at Bela Karolyi's ranch in December. Their special guest coach: 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Liubou Charkashyna of Belarus. “I love that rhythmic gymnastics is a place where sport meets art” – Irina Korosteleva On June 18 North Shore Rhythmics is adding a coach, Irina Korosteleva. She is a former member of the U.S. senior national team who trained at the Los Angeles School of Gymnastics. Since 2007 she has owned Kortel Academy of Gymnastics in Seattle, where she coached elite gymnasts such as Amanda Tran (a former junior national team member) and Megan Frohlich (a member of the senior national group). While running her gym, she attended college full time and received her bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Washington. Rhythmic gymnastics lets coaches and gymnasts be creative, she says. “I love that the sport helps gymnasts become elegant, and helps them build strong minds to achieve goals, and to develop stamina, endurance, discipline and willpower.” Irina will coach all levels at North Shore Rhythmics.
