It's a first! Until this weekend, U.S. rhythmic gymnasts had not finished in the top three in any events at a World Cup. But today NSR's Laura Zeng won two bronze medals in Minsk! Go, Laura! Congrats, too, to NSR's Camilla Feeley and to USA Group members Kiana Eide, Alisa Kano, Natalie McGiffert, Monica Rokhman, Jennifer Rokhman and Kristen Shaldybin. http://www.fig-gymnastics.com/site/figNews/view?id=1561 https://usagym.org/pages/post.html?PostID=18584&prog= Congratulations to our talented level 3's and 4's, who are leaping (and pirouetting) their way to the next level now! They finished up this season with a home meet, judged by former National Champions and World Team members Ava Gehringer (back, second from right) and Jazzy Kerber (back, second from left). Now they're ready to go to summer rhythmic camp, where they will learn new techniques and routines. Ava, Jazzy and coaches Dani Takova (back, far left) and Irina Korosteleva (back, far right) are so proud of all the girls!
Congratulations to NSR gymnast Evita Griskenas, who won the senior all-around title at the Rhythmic National Qualifier in Lake Placid over the weekend! She will head to the USA Gymnastics Championships in Providence, Rhode Island, June 8-13. NSR seniors Natalie Bourand, Ugne Dragunas, and Dasha Baltovic also earned a ticket there based on their top-13 performances in Lake Placid. (Seniors Laura Zeng and Camilla Feeley previously qualified.) NSR juniors who qualified for nationals include Matylda Marszalek, Dasha Kosack, Connie Du, and Kate Danilov. Congratulations to our youngest competitors (a.k.a. Hopes): Gergana Petkova, who became a level 10, and Jessica Huang and Patricia Ivanauskaite, who earned eight medals in total. NSR qualified 15 girls (not even including the USA Group members!) to the championships in levels 7 through 10. Last but not least, kudos to the members of the USA Group, who have already qualified to compete in the 2016 Olympics in Rio! Congratulations to NSR gymnasts Karinne Denisova, Camilla Feeley and Evita Griskenas for their performances in European competitions last weekend!
In Brno, Czechoslovakia, Evita finished eighth in ball and sixth in ribbon in the Grand Prix, and Karinne finished fifth in hoop and clubs and sixth in ball. At the 2016 International Rhythmic Gymnastics Tournament in Corbeil-Essonnes, France, Camilla placed sixth all around, fourth in hoop and fifth in ball and ribbon. |
