“I love that rhythmic gymnastics is a place where sport meets art” – Irina Korosteleva On June 18 North Shore Rhythmics is adding a coach, Irina Korosteleva. She is a former member of the U.S. senior national team who trained at the Los Angeles School of Gymnastics. Since 2007 she has owned Kortel Academy of Gymnastics in Seattle, where she coached elite gymnasts such as Amanda Tran (a former junior national team member) and Megan Frohlich (a member of the senior national group). While running her gym, she attended college full time and received her bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Washington. Rhythmic gymnastics lets coaches and gymnasts be creative, she says. “I love that the sport helps gymnasts become elegant, and helps them build strong minds to achieve goals, and to develop stamina, endurance, discipline and willpower.” Irina will coach all levels at North Shore Rhythmics.
